Member representing Ikpobha-Okha/Egor federal constituency, Hon Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayima yesterday alleged connivance between members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to scuttle his victory in his re-election bid.

Speaking to journalists yesterday, Agbonayima alleged that the processes of collation of results from some wards in Ikpobha-Okha local government area contravened the  Electoral Act.

Organic Creame

He, however, vowed to resist any attempt to scuttle the wishes of the people alleging that a chieftain of the PDP was conniving with officials of INEC to manipulate his re-election.

He said; “PDP with the help of their cohorts, Pastor Ize-yamu and his team have been trying to manipulate the process in my constituency; Egor and Ikpobha-Okha, despite the fact that he even lost his own local government to the APC and he is coming to my local government.

There are many good people, wonderful people in INEC but there are some bad eggs. In the Electoral Act Section 27 subsection 1 paragraph a and b when election is conducted at the polling unit, it must be counted and announced from there they can now proceed to the ward collating centre where the results from the units will be collated and then announced before going to the local government collating centre, all these didn’t happen; especially in ward one, three, four and five in Ikpobha-Okha local government.

“INEC took the results without my agent, my agents didn’t know  where they went to, they went to an unknown destination and expect to

bring the result through the back door to the local government

collating centre. This cannot stand the test of time, not this time

when we are fighting corruption. This is why I will defend and stand

by President Buhari for the bold step he has taken fighting

corruption. Corruption comes in different and many ways not just

taking public funds, doing things illegally is corruption.

“And for some INEC officials to connive with some cabal to derail the

will of Egor and Ikpobha-Okha people, I will not be part of those to

stand by the sides and be an onlooker. I am a lawmaker and not a

lawbreaker and I will not allow this to stand.

“I have campaigned and I will not allow people who did not campaign

because they think they have the machinery of rigging to come and

manipulate the process.”
