Super Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr has asked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure that Chelsea’s Ola Aina is ready to play for the country in the Cameroun 2019 African Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa in June.

Nigeria will take on South Africa in June in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers, before playing back-to-back games against Cameroun when the World Cup 2018 qualifiers resumes in August, and Rohr is hoping Aina would have been cleared before the games, reports owngoalnigeria.com.

“Aina is the one name Rohr is keen on adding to his squad for the upcoming competitive games of the Super Eagles. He has asked the NFF to get the all clear from FIFA before the games against South Africa and Cameroun.

“The fact that Aina has represented England at various youth levels means FIFA has to clear him before his senior debut for Nigeria. The NFF will act as demanded by the coach”, a chieftain of the NFF told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“Hopefully, he will be in the next set of players who will be invited for the South Africa and Cameroun game.

That is our aim for now, we pray FIFA expedite decision on his case,” he added.Aina was among the young Nigerian-born England-based stars that trained with the Super Eagles after the recent international friendly against Senegal.Although he has played for England at the youth level, Aina is still eligible to represent Nigeria at the senior cadre since he has not played for the Three Lions.
