The Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Agency (SOZEA) in collaboration with Islamic Education Trust (IET) slaughtered no fewer than 3000 cows which were donated to over 15,000 households for free in the just concluded Eid-el-Kabir, Malam Lawal Maidoki has divulged.
Maidoki who is the chairman of the state Zakat and Islamic Education Trust however added that, the cows were made available in Kano, Sokoto and Kaduna was with the support of Sulaimaniya and Diversity Turkey

Continuing, Maidoki stressed that their initial target was to slaughter 4000 cows for the Qurbani,which would have cost 2.5 billion naira, adding thowever that they ended up slaughtering 3000 cows which cost them one billion, seven hundred and fifty million naira 1.750bn because of insecurity and other unexpected challanges.
On how the Qurbani cow is been distributed, the Zakat chairman noted that they do not observe any discrimination as it’s devoid of political, religious or tribal affiliation.
