The All Peoples Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured that the 37 non-functional healthcare facilities will be refurbished and adequately equipped, while 10 other new primary healthcare canters will be created to serve riverine and underserved areas.

He made these affirmations during the unveiling of Vision for greater Lagos, which has five pillars of development including traffic management and transportation; health and environment; education and technology; making Lagos a 21st century economy and entertainment/tourism.

Sanwo-Olu stressed that the Lagos health insurance scheme will be expanded with a target of 500, 000 households by the fourth quarter of 2019 as health spending will increase from six percent to 15 percent of the budget in line with Abuja declaration.

With a minimum of three doctors and nurses, five community healthcare workers, all 345 primary health centres will also be expanded by 2021.

He added that there would be access to additional funding for primary healthcare facilities through the National Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) while expanding the Lagos State ambulance and emergency service coverage by increasing the number of ambulance service points by 50 per cent.
