The price of a portion of large chips and rolls at major food outlets such as Nando’sā Wimpy and Spur is becoming more than the price of a quarter chicken.
Nando’s sharing chips or wedges are priced at R34ā90ā which will cost you R44,80 if you add a roll for your lunch.
This is R4ā90 more than the price of a quarter chicken orderā which goes for R39ā90 at the same restaurant.
If you decide to have your meal at Spurā you will pay R33,80 for the same order of large chips and a roll (R26ā90 plus R6ā90).
The same order will cost you R31ā90 at Wimpy for large chips at R24ā90 and a bun for R7ā00.

Patrons across the country have been feeling the pinch and are shocked by these prices.
Ronica Inarman posted on Facebook: “In my opinion this portion of large chips for R34,90 is a rip off!”

Other users feel plain robbed. Jasveer Morar shared: “Dear Nando’s. I have always been a fan of your jokesā great food and hearty portions. But after going ordering chips yesterday I felt that the joke was on me. After ordering a large chips and being told it was R34.90⦔
