Seasiders, others win, as Prudent Energy Handball league ends today

Borno Spiders, Edo Dynamos, D.Defenders, Lagos Seasiders, and Safety Babes all triumphed in yesterday’s fixture of the final phase of the Prudent Energy Handball League, which ends today at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Rowe Park, Yaba.

In matches played, Borno Spiders defeated Owena Kings 22-16, while COAS Shooters lost 18-20 narrowly to D.Defenders, as Lagos Seasiders dug deep to overcome Sokoto Rima’s threat 26-28 in the men’s category of the league.

While the women’s class saw Safety Babes overwhelmed Desert Queens 23-14, while Edo Dynamos humbled Seasiders Babes 27-26. In the final games today, Safety Babes will meet Abia Valiants, while Defender Babes will square up with Kada as Plateau Peacocks square up with Seasiders Babes.

Games in the men’s schedule will feature Kano Pillars battle COAS Shooters, while Lagos Seasiders will test their strength against Borno Spiders, as Niger United takes on Owena Kings. Others include Prison Key Boys in a duel with Safety Shooters, while Sokoto Rima will meet D.Defenders, and Kada Stars fight Plateau Vipers in the final game of the day.

The 12-day competition sponsored by the Prudent Energy Limited, will end today after a round-robin matches, which began in Abuja with the first phase won by Niger United and Safety Babes of Abuja. Money prizes that include N1 million, N750,000 and N500,000 will be awarded to the winners, runner up and third place finish respectively in both categories of the championship. However, at the commencement of the competition each participating team was given N500,000, as subsidy.
