Former Super Eagles’ star, Victor Agali has described the playing pitch of the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa as one of the best in the country, saying it is good enough to host national team matches.

“I can’t believe this pitch is in Nigeria. It is simply the best in the country right now,” he told journalists yesterday after his side, Delta Force FC’s pre-season friendly match with Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

The arena, which has just been renovated by the Bayelsa State government, would be commissioned soon. Bayelsa United and Delta Force were allowed to test run the geo-technology pitch under closed door by the contractor handling the project, Monimichelle.

Agali, who is one of Gernot Rohr’s backroom staff in Super Eagles, said the Samson Siasia Stadium turf is simply fantastic and commended Bayelsa State government for going for the very best.

“The government has done a great job and I think the company that did it should be given the chance to replicate this in different parts of the country, especially the Abuja National Stadium.

We need to have this kind of fine pitch in Abuja. This is the latest technology when you talk about artificial pitch that is close to natural grass turf. The players can express themselves well here and there won’t be any injury worries,” Agali said.
