Commits to stronger football structure

The three geopolitical zones in the southern part of the country have promised to develop stronger bond within the region in order to foster more robust football development in the southern part of the country.

The region also passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), from its President, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, on its several brilliant programmes, including the programme of preparation of the Super Eagles for this year’s FIFA World Cup finals in Russia.

At a meeting in Lagos at the weekend, convened by the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association and First Vice President of the NFF, Seyi Akinwunmi, the union equally resolved to encourage better bonding among the three zones, strengthen football structure within the three zones (South West, South East and South South) and to carry out regular assessment of the different youth programs in the zones while reviewing the same.

“The meeting also committed to encouraging brotherhood among the states in the southern region and stronger co-operation and exchange in technical and other areas of the game, and called on the leaders of the game in the region to interface and deliberate more on exchange programs and to ensure cross-fertilization of ideas on a regular basis,” Akinwunmi, convener of the meeting and Chairman of the Western Nigeria Football Forum, told thenff.com.

Chairmen of the Football Associations in the South West (Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States); South East (Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi States) and; South South (Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa  Ibom) zones attended the meeting.
