A group, Northern Professionals Development Group, on Friday called on the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, to stop all forms of media attacks on President Bola Tinubu’s administration and his Minister of State, Defence, Bello Matawalle.
Matawalle, the immediate past governor of the state, has been criticised by the current administration in the state on how he piloted the affairs of the state during his four-year tenure as the governor.

A statement signed by the group’s state coordinator, Bashir Shamaki, said instead of providing good governance, security, political cohesion and progress in the state, some officials of the state government have now become agents of recruiting protesters, media mercenaries for political attacks against the policies of the Federal government and Kaduna respectively.
In a statement released in Sokoto, the group described such attitudes as alien to the unity, development and political maturity in the North.
