Popular Nollywood star, Jim Iyke, has asked youths to avoid acts that would make the south East region look irredeemable.
Iyke who spoke to Journalists on Saturday in Owerri, Imo state, during
Social Media Fest program, said that the explosives being thrown in the region were affecting the economy of the zone.
He suggested that instead of violence, government and the aggrieved people should seek dialogue as way to ironing out the differences.
He urged the youths to amplify their voices on youths that worry them instead of taking to weapons.
The actor described the violence in Igboland as a house fighting each other that would collapse.
According to him, the Igbo should find a better way of amplifying their voices without shedding blood.
The actor said the Igbo as the most disenfranchised in Nigeria and advised that the Igbo leaders should work in the direction of correcting the bad governance in the region.

He said, ”We can amplify our voices in so many ways instead of killing ourselves. Don’t forget this destruction is not outside of Igboland it is inside our land. We are killing ourselves by ourselves. A house fighting itself in the same house will only collapse.”
Iyke also said that the banditry in the region was a response to the marginalisation of the zone by the Federal Government.
The converner of the program, Excel Ajah, said that the event was designed to use the social media to promote good things about the region.
He added that the event was to promote the economy of the region, dissuade the youths against crime and call on governments to be responsive to the demands of the people.
Ajah said, “The excellence of the Social Media Fest program is to change the narrative about, Owerri and south East. We want to tell the world that beyond the negative things you hear about us, we are tremendously blessed with a lot of potentials and talents.
“We are using the medium to promote unity and also to call on the governments to be responsive to the yearnings of the people. We are not partisans, we are only concerned about the economy, talents and we’ll being of our people. Having someone like Jim Iyke inspire thousands of youths here today is key to the new order we seek.”
