A Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday admitted a 21-year-old man, Suleiman John, to bail in the sum of N100,000 for alleged criminal misappropriation.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, ordered the defendant to produce a surety in the like sum.
Sadiq said that the surety must be at least on Grade Level 4 in the Federal Civil Service.
He adjourned the case till April 18 for hearing.
The defendant, who resides at Jabi upstairs’, Abuja, was arraigned on a one-count charge.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Judith Obatomi, said Joseph Effiong of Efab Estate Life Camp, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on Feb. 25.
She said the complainant reported that on 6, July 2015 he entrusted N1.6 million for recharge card business but the defendant misappropriated N984,143.
Obatomi said that during police investigation N88, 700 and different kind of recharge card worth N50,600 were recovered.
She said the defendant dishonestly converted N844, 843 for his personal use.
Obatomi said the offences contravened Section 308 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty, saying that people where owing him some money.
The Counsel to the defendant, Charity Nwosu, applied for his bail, and assured the court that the defendant would not jump bail
