The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared total support for the administration of Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu.

The Sultan made the declaration during a Sallah homage visit to the governor at the Presidential Lodge in Sokoto, where he commended the administration for implementing people-oriented projects across the state.
He noted that the Sultanate Council remains firmly aligned with the governor’s transformative agenda, particularly in the areas of infrastructural development, social welfare programmes, and empowerment initiatives.
“We are very proud of our governor, and we are 100 percent in support of what he is doing for the state,” the Sultan said.

He cautioned against divisive rhetoric, stressing that no amount of mischief could undermine the cordial relationship between the traditional institution and the government.
“People should always fear God in whatever they say or post on social media,” he added.
Addressing the issue of insecurity, the Sultan disclosed that the Sultanate Council would soon convene a meeting with District Heads to explore ways of complementing the state government’s efforts in tackling security challenges.
He also urged residents to support and cooperate with the government in achieving its vision for a better Sokoto State.
Earlier, Governor Aliyu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions, announcing plans to renovate the palaces of District Heads across the state.
In a statement issued by his Director-General of Media and Publicity, Abubakar Bawa, the governor said the initiative would provide conducive working environments for traditional rulers, who serve as the closest authorities to grassroots communities.
“We are not unaware of the dilapidated conditions of many district heads’ palaces in the state. Very soon, we will commence their renovation, beginning with the palace of the District Head of Wurno,” the governor said.
He further reiterated his administration’s resolve to collaborate closely with the Sultanate Council in addressing key challenges, particularly insecurity in rural areas.
Governor Aliyu also assured residents of his government’s open-door policy, encouraging them to offer constructive suggestions to support the state’s development.
