Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, has called on the Federal Government and governors of the South-West states to urgently approve the proposed “Iru Ekun” Security Network to combat banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes across Yorubaland.
Igboho made the appeal on Tuesday amid growing insecurity in the region, particularly following the abduction of pupils and teachers at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He disclosed that all necessary arrangements for the commencement of the regional security initiative had been concluded, noting that the outfit was designed to flush out criminal elements allegedly operating within forests across the South-West.
According to him, the security network is awaiting official approval from relevant authorities before operations can begin.
Reacting to the recent school abduction and the killing of one of the kidnapped teachers, identified as Michael Oyedokun, Igboho expressed sympathy to the affected families and traumatised parents of the abducted pupils.
“I am only awaiting government approval to confront the worsening insecurity devastating the South-West head-on,” he stated.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Igboho said he would not commence the proposed operation without the consent of the Federal Government, South-West governors and security agencies, including the Police, the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army.
“What happened in the Ahoro-Esinle community, as well as previous security breaches, is deeply saddening, unfortunate and alarming, especially considering the suffering endured by victims of abduction, particularly innocent pupils,” he said.
“My heart goes out to the parents of the abducted pupils and the families of the slain teachers and security personnel who lost their lives in these heinous acts.”
He stressed the need for urgent and decisive action to restore peace and public confidence in rural communities affected by repeated attacks.
“We are fully prepared, alongside our men, to enter these forests and flush out the marauders who have made life unbearable for our people. We cannot continue to stand by helplessly while innocent citizens are murdered and abducted by bandits, rogue herders and kidnappers,” he added.
Igboho also appealed to traditional rulers in the South-West to intervene by urging government authorities to grant immediate approval for the commencement of the Iru Ekun Security Network to curb the rising wave of insecurity in the region.
