Suspects Arrested For Killing Ogun Customs Men, N2.8bn Expired Drinks, Others Seized

The Nigerian Customs Service has confirmed the seizure of expired drinks, cannabis, among others, with a duty paid value of N2,826,486,890, during a raid on a warehouse in Lagos State.

The Acting Controller, Federal Operations Unit, Deputy Comptroller Hussein Ejibunu, noted that the Zone A Unit of the NCS made the seizures within six weeks, adding that two prime suspects linked to the death of two Customs men in Ogun State were also arrested.

He stated that several items, including cannabis and 1,009 cartons of expired drinks labelled in Chinese language, were uncovered in the warehouse.

During a press briefing on Monday, Ejibunu displayed the seized items, including 13,342 bags of 50kg smuggled parboiled rice, 175 sacks of used shoes, 285 cartons of Basmati rice, 464 cartons of tomato paste, 694 bales of second-hand clothing and 5,413 cartons of medicaments without NAFDAC numbers or certification.
