The Teranga Lions of Senegal defeated their Egyptian counterparts in a pulsating encounter on Sunday night to win their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title.
Senegal, who are Africa’s top-ranked side, dominated the entire game but failed to find the net against a sturdy Egyptian defence in Yaounde.
The game was eventually decided via a penalty shootout with Sadio Mane scoring the final and decisive kick of the shootout.
Egypt were looking to win a record eighth African title and looked like luck might be on their side when Zamalek goalkeeper, Gabaski, saved an early penalty from Sadio Mane in the 7th minute.
The Pharaohs brought very little quality though and they now leave Cameroon having now lost two finals in the last three editions of the competition.
