TEWUTA has asked President Magufuli to help solve challenges faced by Tanzania Telecommunication Company Limited (TTCL) including appointing new Board of Directors in order to improve performance.
Speaking to reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday, TEWUTA General Secretary, Mr Junus Ndaro said that President Magufuli was elected president due to his sincerity and serious approach to work.
“We congratulate President Magufuli for being elected to serve the nation. He is a vibrant person who works for the benefit of people and nation at large,” Mr Ndaro said.
He said that due to poor performance of TTCL President Magufuli has to overhaul the company structure, putting in place a scheme of service and salary structure.
“We call upon our president to change the system of management of the company in order to improve efficiency. The current system is inefficient and contributes nothing to our national income,” he explained.
TEWUTA also asked President Magufuli to solve challenges facing communication sector in the country including removing employment agents in telecommunication companies, to reduce interconnection charges, to ensure private telecommunication companies repay proper and appropriate taxes to the government.
Meanwhile, PETI SIYAME reports from Katavi and Rukwa regions that residents of the two regions mostly farmers have congratulated President, John Magufuli on his election, appealing to him to allow them export their agricultural surplus to foreign markets at competitive prices.

Also, they appealed to him to ensure that the rehabilitation to tarmac level of three major roads currently being undertaken in the region is hastened as it will be gateway to markets in the neighbouring countries.
Both Katavi and Rukwa regions are famous for producing cereals especially maize and rice with farmers realizing bumper harvests of maize which is six times more than the demand.
Mr Edward Msemakweli, a farmer from Nkasi District said most farmers have started eyeing neighbouring countries as markets for their agricultural produce following the upgrading of major regional roads to tarmac level. “We are appealling to President Magufuli to allow us to export our agricultural produces mainly maize and rice.
We are very optimistic that upon completion of the major roads currently under construction to tarmac level, there will be a gateway to markets in neighbouring Congo, Zambia and Burundi,” added Mr Msemakweli .
Similar sentiments were echoed by Mr John Jacob from Kalambo District and Ms Mwanahamis Kitabu a maize businesswoman from Katavi Region .
Some farmers in Kalambo and Sumbawanga districts in Rukwa Region, as well as those from Mpanda and Mlele districts in Katavi Region, expressed optimistic that upon completion the major roads will open up the regions to DRC, Burundi and Zambia markets.
The Lake Rukwa Basin in Sumbawanga District is famous for rice production, which is supplied to Mbeya and Tabora regions. Farmers such as Embassy Mwigulu from Milepa Village in the basin, who got a bumper harvest of rice last season, were also optimistic that they will benefit from completion of the road projects.
Rukwa Region, Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) Chairperson, Mr Sadrick Malila, admitted that infrastructure challenges have in the past been a hindrance to farmers.
