Mr Olubunmi Oshindero, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Boomtrust Travels and Tours, on Friday appealed to the Federal Government to involve professionals in the promotion of Nigerian tourism.
Oshindero told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that this would give room to an improved growth of the sector and it would be able to compete with countries that have had their tourism sector developed.
He said that tourism outfits consisted of the hospitality firms, beaches, hotels, travels, tours and zoos.
He said these outfits should be managed by individuals that had been certified by approved tourism institution as a hospitality manager.

Oshundero told NAN that people, who must be absorbed into the tourism industry, should be those who had been trained and certified fit from a tourism institute, most especially, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR).
“We have all it takes to make our tourism industry bigger and more interesting because of the natural and beautiful sites we have.
“But people have not been able to manage these places well enough to attract tourists.
“That is why we need professionals, who are well educated in the field to manage them instead of novice who did not know what to do and at the end of the day, manage them badly,’’ he said.
He appealed to the Federal Government to take conscious efforts to engage professionals in the quest to develop the sector and take it to the next level.
“An individual, who will be employed as a hotel manager, should have been to a tourism or hospitality firm to understudy how to manage a hotel,” he said. (NAN)
