Traditional Rulers Caution Politicians On Hate Speech

The emir of Gwandu and Chairman Kebbi State council of chiefs, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar has cautioned Nigerians especially politicians on the dangers of hate speech and its consequences on the society.

The royal father gave the warning while receiving in his palace a delegation from Dakingari led by the district head of Dakingari , Alhaji Jafaru Haliru who paid thank you visit to the emir for the conferment of chieftaincy title of ‘Jakadan Gwandu ” on the national vice president of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN),Alhaji Abubakar Maigandu Dakingari.

He observed that hate speech and politics of bitterness were capable of jeopardizing democracy in Nigeria.

“Play politics according to its rules, avoid hate speech because it is capable of causing crises and instability ” he warned.

Bashar also cautioned electorates to desist from selling their votes which he described as detrimental to democracy while urging them to elect people of proven integrity into various elective positions.

He equally called on people to be security conscious by reporting any suspicious character or groups to security agents for necessary action.

In the same vein, the emir of Zuru , Maj. Gen. (Dr) Muhammad Sani Sami, Gomo 11 had enjoined People of Zuru Emirate to avoid hate Speech and any criminal activity in the Emirate

The emir made the call at symposium on effects and consequences of hate speech organized by Movement for the Eradication of Hate Speech in Zuru Emirate held at Komo Unity Hall in Zuru local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The emir was represented by the district head of Rikoto, Alhaji Shehu Mohammed Bandi at the occasion
