Speaking through a virtual medium on Friday, Director General of NADDC, Jelani Aliyu said the training is in response to the call on the rising cases of road traffic crashes involving tricycles, motorcycles and other vehicles across the country with its attendant loss in human life and property.

“The council planned and conducted this skill upgrade training for technicians working on tricycle and motorcycle as part of its contribution towards nipping in the bud, the problem of road accidents,” Aliyu said.

According to him, similar training has been held in Abuja, Kaduna with over 5,000 technicians since the commencement of the programme in 2012.

He advised the trainees to update their technical know-how, noting that there are technological advances with the latest trends in the field.

Aliyu added, “These technicians are now better individuals with admirable skills in a very interesting and important sector which is the automotive sector.

“It is important for everyone here especially the graduating trainees to know that the technology in the auto sector advances continually and at a fast pace. Tricycles, motorcycles today are built with some electronically controlled systems.

“The only way to meet up with this advancement is training and re-training. I want to believe that this five-day training has helped in no small way to improve your knowledge of modern tricycle and motorcycle, its components and maintenance.”

On his part, the Northern Coordinator Simba Group Kamlesh Pitale urged the trainees to utilize the knowledge by solving challenges.

Also speaking, Provost of the College of Education Technical, Dr Ali Boderi lauded the effort of the council for setting up a training centre in the institution.
