A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday, sentenced a 20-year-old tricycle rider, Basir Usman, to two weeks imprisonment for overloading his tricycle.
The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option of N3,000 fine.
Sadiq, who advised the convict to desist from committing crime, said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.
He also advised the convict to learn and understand the Road Traffic Act.

Usman, who resides at Setraco, Gwarimpa in Abuja, was convicted on a one count charge of carrying excess passengers.
The convict, who pleaded guilty to the charge, urged the court to temper justice with mercy, and promised to be of a good behaviour.
The Prosecutor, Zannan Dalhatu, had told the court that Sgt. Gloria Irimiya, attached to Life Camp Police Station Abuja, apprehended the convict on March 21, and took him to the station.
Dalhatu said that the convict overloaded his tricycle and was arrested at Obafemi Awolowo Way, by Kado Fish Market Junction, Abuja.
The prosecutor said that the offence was punishable under Section 35 of the Road Traffic Act.
