Nigerian troops have killed a male suicide bomber at the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said on Thursday
According to Usman, a soldier shot the suicide bomber at about 6.30 am when he attempted to penetrate troops location at Jidari Polo general area.
Usman said that the suicide bomber who was strapped with a heavy Improvised Explosive Device entered the area through Alidawari village about four kilometres to Jidari location of the troops.
The Acting Army spokesman said that a soldier shot him after the bomber refused all directives to stop.

He said that a combined team of the Nigerian Army and Police Explosive Ordinance Device detonated the IED-laden vest on the neutralised bomber.
He said, “Today at about 6.30am, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole intercepted and neutralised a male suicide bomber at the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State.
“The terrorist, who attempted to infiltrate through the troops forward defences at Jidari Polo general area, came in through Alidawari village about 4 kilometres ahead of Jidari strapped with heavy Improvised Explosive Devices vest.
“The vigilant troops on sighting him laid in wait for the intruder when he vehemently refused to stop despite several warnings and challenges. A marksman neutralized the suicide bomber. “
