Two Days After, Abducted Catholic Priest Regains Freedom

Unknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have released a Delta-based Catholic Priest identified as Rev. Fr. Samuel Agwameseh after he was abducted on Saturday, December 14.

Report had earlier that the Catholic priest was kidnapped while returning from Onicha-Olona community where he had gone for the production of the church’s weekly bulletin.

According to reports, the abductors of parish priest of St Lawrence Catholic Church in Issele-Mkpitime community of Aniocha North Local Government Area, demanded for a ransom of N20m before the cleric regained his freedom on Monday night.

The Commissioner of Police in Delta state identified as Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke confirmed the release of the Catholic Priest but further disclosed that he is not aware of payment of any ransom.

He said; “The priest was released last night (Monday), but I’m not aware if ransom was paid or no.”
