According to the PPRO, the arrest of the duo in a Toyota Hiace was effected by operatives attached to the Sapele division, who were on stop and search on Tuesday.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police spokesman said four master keys usually used for stealing vehicles were recovered.

The PPRO said the two suspects were in custody, while investigation was ongoing into the matter.

In another development, an unnamed resident was said to have on January 17, 2022, reported at the Enerhen Police Station that his Toyota Camry was stolen at gunpoint by some hoodlums, who were in a Highlander SUV.

Aside from the car, the robbers reportedly made away with the victim’s iPhone, valued at N600,000; an Oppo phone, valued at N195,000; two gold chains, valued at N380,000; and an Apple series wristwatch, valued at N150,000.

It was gathered that upon a technical intelligence-led investigation, the snatched vehicle was found at Orhuwhorun in Ovwian-Aladja, while the robbers had replaced the vehicle number plate with another tag.

The police spokesman, Edafe, said the vehicle was recovered, just as a manhunt had been intensified for the hoodlums.
