Uyo sets for a two-day Hotel Managers’ Conference 2017

The state capital of Akwa Ibom, Uyo is set to host a two-day Hotel Managers’ conference. The second edition of the event with the theme “certifications & Professionalism” holds April 27 – 28, 2017 at Eemjm Hotel.

The conference convener, Olugbenga Sunday disclosed in a media chat recently.

“The Hotel Managers’ Conference is born out of the passion and drive to improve the performance of hotel operations in Nigeria and Africa in general”, Olugbenga said.

He stated further, “there is a big gap between international hospitality brands and indigenous brands both in administrative and general operating standards. Therefore, Hotel Managers Conference will be a platform where hotel Managers; General Managers and head of Departments are privileged to meet with the hospitality Experts with Global relevance and draw timely knowledge for professional exploit”.

Some of the course outline of the event are centred on: Developing career path in hospitality industry; attracting international brand with proper professional certifications; Professionalism as key to becoming a preferred manager and building an effective departmental structure.

Among the confirmed notable speakers and resource persons at the conference are National President, Institute of Tourism Professionals, Abiodun Odusanwo; Benedictar Ogar from International School of Hospitality, Las Vegas, USA and General Manager, Channel View Hotel, Chuks Agboje.

“Hotel managers oversee all aspects of hotel operations including staff, maintenance, convention and conference services, reservations, office administration, sales, purchasing, housekeeping, security, recreation, and food management. It is paramount to be updated and keep abreast on latest development in the industry at the conference”, Olugbenga concluded.
