In their desire to make the famous International Pairs competition a truly national tournament, the organisers of the competition, Falcon Golf Development Company (FGDC) has introduced regional qualifiers that will culminate in a national final already billed to hold at the highbrow Ibom Golf Resort in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The Chief Executive Officer of the organising outfit, Remi Olukoya said the decision to make the annual tournament a national event was borne out of the need to accommodate players from all the golf clubs in the country.

To this effect, IBB International Golf & Country Club, Abuja will host golfers from the Northern Region, while Lakowe Lakes will host their counterparts from the South West.

Golfers from the South-South and South East region would converge at Port Harcourt Golf Club for their regional qualifier.

Winners in all the regions and other invited guests will converge at the five-star Ibom Golf Resort for the final that will produce Nigeria’s representatives to the World Finals of International Pairs from November 6 to 10 at the five star Hotel Penina Golf Resort in Portugal.

Expected in this year’s edition are the defending champions, former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and his pair, Esosa Ojomo, who will enjoy automatic qualification to the national finals as recognition of their feat last year.

To ensure this year’s event goes as planned, the organisers say they would need the support of corporate organisations and individuals.
