The family of Sylvester Oromoni has refuted claims that the Consultant Pathologist, Dr Clement Vhriterhire, who conducted autopsy on Sylvester Jnr was a family doctor.

Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a JSS2 student of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos State, died on November 30, 2021, after revealing that he was brutalised by some seniors in the school hostel.

The school however insisted that he sustained injuries while playing football.

The outgoing Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had on Friday said the police had concluded its investigations, forwarded its report to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions and got a response from the DPP.

Odumosu added that the housemasters had been released on bail because the court order obtained had elapsed and the medical report had not indicted them.

Sylvester Snr, however, faulted the police for refusing to accept the autopsy report conducted in Warri that indicated the cause of death as “acute lung injury due to chemical intoxication in a background of blunt force trauma.”

He stated that the pathologist was brought in by the Area Commander of Warri, Delta State after the case was reported to the police to carry out the autopsy.

Sylvester said, “After the boy mentioned those boys’ names, we reported the case. The police came and snapped the dead body, then contacted a government pathologist that works with Central Hospital, Warri. We don’t even know the doctor.

“Copies of the autopsy report we got have the stamp of the area command on all the pages. It was the police from Lagos that made me know that they have got a copy of the autopsy result so I wrote to the area command that the family needs a copy, that was why they gave us a copy and they stamped all the pages and gave it to us.

“He (the pathologist) is not our doctor; we do not even know him.”
