A former vice chairman of Lagos chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Fouad Oki, Friday said not Nigerian governments but Nigerians should be held responsible for economic woes of the country.

“The narrative is changing, it is not Goodluck Jonathan, it is not Yaradua, it is not president Obasanjo, it is not Abacha, that got us where we are,” Oki said in an interview with Talk Radio Lagos.

“It is all of us when we were consuming things we were not producing when we were outsourcing our employment,” he added.

Oki, who is currently a factional leader of the party in Lagos, however, noted that the current administration has changed the abysmal attitude.

“Today, we have started producing what we consume, we have started eating what we are producing,” Oki said.

The president Muhammadu Buhari led administration has always accused the past administrations, especially the erstwhile President Jonathan, of causing horrendous damage to the country’s economy.

Despite the spike in the unemployment rate in the country in recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics, Oki said Nigeria is better off than what it used to be “four years ago”.

However, critic believes that the Buhari-led administration has not lived up to expectations.
