President Muhammadu Buhari had explained that the decision was taken to check smuggling but some Nigerians kicked against it, saying the action worsened the economic situation.
But at a programme in Abuja on Monday, Nanono defended the government, saying it is incorrect to say closure of the border has brought hardship.
