Wheelchair Tennis Championship holds April 16

The maiden edition of the VCN Wheelchair Tennis Championship will hold at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. It is slated to run from April 16 to 20 this year.Arrangements have been concluded in the five-day sporting fiesta, which is expected to attract athletes from all parts of the country.

Coordinator of the event, Mr. Kayode Savage, said the VCN championship would see athletes compete in the male, female and quad categories. Savage, who is also a tennis coach, expressed appreciation to the VCN boss, Chief Victor Nwaribeaku, for bankrolling the championship, which is aimed at boosting wheelchair tennis in the country.

Nwaribeaku, who pledged his continuous support said: “We cannot fold our hands and watch potential talents rot away. At VCN, it is our resolve to pay special attention to sportsmen and women. The special athletes mean so much to our vision of producing the best, despite all odds.

“We distribute quality sports materials and we will never relent in targeting excellence in sports development, said Nwaribeaku.He, however, said that arrangements are also in top gear for the hosting of the VCN Under-15 football fiesta in August, this year, in Lagos.
