The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has accused the Federal Government of fighting all institutions in the country in a bid to rig 2019 elections.

Wike lamented that rather than develop the country; the Federal Government was busy fighting all institutions, thereby neglecting governance, which is its primary responsibility.

Governor Wike stated this, yesterday, during a mobilisation meeting at Unit 7 Ward 9 of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area in the state.

He said: “The APC Federal Government is fighting everyone. It tried to destroy the National Assembly and failed. It is also fighting the judiciary, so it can rig the forthcoming elections.”

Wike pointed out that, since 2015 when President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office, he has not initiated or executed any project in Rivers State.

The governor said mobilisation for votes is happening at the unit level to carry all Rivers people along in a move to oust Buhari from the Presidency.

He called on the people of the state to vote out the APC-led Federal Government on February 16, so as to attract benefits to the state.

In another development, Governor Wike has noted that roles played by the Armed Forces in the unity of Nigeria would always be recognised.

Speaking after the Juma’at Prayer to mark this years Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the 6 Division Bori Camp in Port Harcourt, Wike acknowledged fallen heroes and war veterans for the sacrifices they made for the country.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Niger Delta Development Commission Matters (NDDC), Alhaji Mohammed Okiri, Wike said the Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a period of sober reflection and stock taking.
