Gunmen have kidnapped Prof Felix Ilesani of Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Adamawa State.

Prof Ilesani was abducted Thursday night from his residence at the staff quarters of the university campus in Girei, headquarters of Girei Local Government Area of the state.

The university don is the chaplain of Trinity Chapel, located on the main campus of the university.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the Chief Security Officer of the university has reported the development to the police.

He said police officers had been drafted to rescue the victim and arrest the abductors.

The federal university is fast acquiring the infamy of being a fertile ground for kidnappers who always ‘gun’ for professors.

Only last month, a professor of Soil Science in the university, Adamu Zata, was kidnapped. It was the second time Adamu Zata would be kidnapped in one year, having earlier suffered the same fate in October 2018.
