The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has disclosed that this year’s Ramat International Cup will now hold from February 13 to 20 in the ancient City of Kano. February 6 to 13 was earlier fixed for the tournament put in place in memory of the former military Head of State, late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.

YSFON president, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna said the earlier date of February 6 to 13 was not conducive because of the local councils polls the host state would conduct within that period.

Gawuna stated that February 13 has been fixed as the opening day for the competition in which teams from the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to participate. He added that all logistics needed to host a hitch free competition have been put in place.

Gawuna, who disclosed that the Kano State government has already agreed to host hosting a successful tournament, charged the teams to exhibit high level of discipline, saying the competition will be one of the best youth tournaments in recent time.

The YSFON leader said: “This competition, which is used to honour late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, who was killed in a coup, always draws huge number of participating teams.

“We will continue to encourage the youths to come together from across the country and in the course of their stay, imbibe in them national values.”
