Gaidam said the aim of meeting was to reaffirm the commission’s commitment toward free, fair and credible general elections.

“On PVC collection, a total of 1,788,706  has been collected for the 2019 general elections, out of the total registered voters of 1,973,083,“he said.

He said the figures were subject to the final figures to be released by Chairman of the Commission.

Gaidam said INEC had provided a lot of opportunities for those for who registered to check and collect their PVCs.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Muhammed Mukaddas, said the command was ready to provide adequate security during the election.

Mukaddas said that security agencies in the state were committed to peaceful conduct of the election and would display professionalism during the exercise.

The commissioner advised politicians and other residents in the state not to see election as do-or-die affair but a sacrifice to the nation.

Mr Bolade Oluri, the State Director, Department of State Services (DSS), described Adamawa as relatively peaceful and assured stakeholders that the election would be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

“Outside Madagali Local Government Area, the security challenges are less and all security formations in the state have wonderful synergy to deliver free, fair and successful elections,’’ Oluri said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that participants in the meeting include representatives of political parties, security agencies and civil organisations among others. (NAN)
