Anambra High Court sitting in Awka has nullified wards, local government areas and State congresses by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party, last month, conducted congresses that produced Basil Ejidike as state chairman.

But delivering a judgement in a matter before him, Justice Ike Ogu of High Court 4 Awka ruled that the exercise contravened the initial Interlocutory Injunction earlier issued by his court.

Ogu ruled on the suit filed by one Lawrence Emegini and others.

The Court stated that the tenure of wards, local government areas and states executives elected during 2018 congresses in Anambra subsist.

He noted that whatever congress conducted by APC and its representatives in the State while the tenure of the 2018 elected executives contravened the order of the Court.

He stated that Emeka Ibe-led executives should be allowed to complete their tenure which was illegally terminated.

Reacting, the Secretary of APC in the faction loyal to Ibe, Mr Chukwuma Agufugo described the judgment as a victory for the rule of law.

He regretted efforts by some members to disorganise the party and hijack its leadership, expressing thanks to God that the court has liberated the party.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Chief P.I. Ikwueto (SAN) said the court’s decision has vindicated his clients, while Legal Adviser of one of the party factions dissolved by the judgment, Chinoso Chinwuba said their next move would be determined after studying the judgment.

“We will file a notice of appeal and stay of execution, the judge erred in law and it will be set aside at the appeal,” he said
