The Lagos State government is working assiduously across the length and breadth of not only the metropolis but also within the various rural areas to ensure that there is all round and robust infrastructural development, says Commissioner for Water Front and Infrastructural Development, Engr. Adebowale Akinsanya.
The commissioner, who stated this at a stakeholders meeting yesterday on the construction of flyover and ramp at Pen-Cinema junction at Agege area of the state, said as part of efforts by the governor Akinwunmi Ambode led-administration, Lagos is witnessing massive road transformation in all nooks and crannies.
He stressed this is in line with the vision of Ambode’ administration to make the state more prosperous with a robust economy.

Highlighting various rehabilitation and construction of roads in various parts of the state to include Agric-Isawo-Arepo road and Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Igbe road at Ikorodu; strategic road development in Epe to cope with industrial and commercial growth with the Lekki Free Trade Zone; flyovers at Ajah and Abule Egba; Ojodu Berger pedestrian bridges and slip roads, Ipaja, Aboru to provide more link roads to tackle gridlock challenge, amongst other, and with the commencement of the reconstruction and upgrade of the world class 10-lane Oshodi-Muritala Muhammad International Airport Road, Akinsanya said the infrastructures are directly having positive impacts on the people by improving their socio-economic activities.
He said through the projects the problems associated with traffic gridlocks are being addressed.
“The essence of all these is geared towards, apart from resolving perennial traffic gridlocks, it will also serve inter-connectivity for roads which impact positively on the health of road users who will no longer be subjected to the stress associated with traffic gridlock.
“We are gathered today to engage the relevant stakeholders on the need therefore to construct a flyover bridge across the intersections of Iju Road and Old Abeokuta Road with Obama Ogunji/Agunbiade Street respectively which cannot be overemphasized in view of its strategic link to several communities.
“This stakeholders meeting is in line with the inclusive governance mantra of the present administration to run an open, robust and all-inclusive government where citizens will not only have a voice but also determine the direction and scope of developmental projects in the state,” Akinsanya said.
He further urged the residents and the road users to cooperate with the government in the course of the project, adding that the need to collectively resolve the perennial traffic gridlock in the area and its environs is a task that must be done by all.
