BUA Cement Plc on Thursday commenced the distribution of agricultural inputs to no fewer than 300 farmers resettled from their original communities in Sokoto State.
The initiative, executed under the company’s Sustainable Livelihood Restoration Programme, drew commendation from beneficiaries across the affected communities.
Speaking during the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of BUA Cement, Yusuf Haliru Binji, said the programme was designed to empower farmers displaced as a result of the company’s industrial expansion.
He noted that quarrying and other industrial activities sometimes necessitate the relocation of settlements to ensure safety and facilitate access to raw materials.
Binji explained that beyond providing new housing for resettled communities, the company is committed to restoring and improving the livelihoods of affected farmers.
