Chairman of the Northern Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Yakubu Pam, has urged newly elected governors in the 19 states of the region to hit the ground running to develop their states.

This comes as General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye charged winners of elective position at the Federal and state levels in the just concluded elections to take Nigeria to the next level through robust investment in education, health and entrepreneurship.
Besides, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, Imo State, Geoffrey Okorafor, advised all outgoing governors to desist from looting public finances of their state governments.
Pam in a statement issued yesterday in Jos, said: “All Northern states are in need of development that will touch the lives of the people. With the right government policies that address those needs, the current crisis in some states of the North will come to an end.
He stressed that Northern governors should make security number one priority to avoid the ugly incidences of the recent past where many lives and property were lost to attacks and killings by merchants of death masquerading all over the North under whatever guise.
Adeboye spoke while ministering yesterday during a thanksgiving service at RCCG, Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos with the theme: “Regaining Your Lost Glory.”
The Cleric who later spoke through Assistant General Overseer, Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola said for the country to really come out of the current quagmire, pragmatic steps should be taken to write a new story for the country through policies that would focus on education, health and entrepreneurship.
Okorafor who gave the admonition yesterday during a Eucharistic service of confirmation, admission and induction for Emekuku Parish at St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, said alleged looting by governors preparing to leave office on May 29 was disturbing, insisting that such actions do not portray them in good light.
He said both moveable and non-moveable government property must be left intact and handed over to the incoming administrations.
According to Okorafor, it was wrong for the governors whose tenure would lapse on May 29, 2019 to deplete their various states pauses to make it difficult for the incoming administrations to operate.
In his sermon, the Bishop’s Chaplain, Reverend Progress Okoroafor charged all Christians to make their ways right according to the teachings of God even as they prepare for the Easter celebrations.
