Tozali Women and Girl-Child Education Foundation has empowered over 1,300 women with economic tools and food items in Gombe State.

National coordinator of the foundation, Hajiya Maimuna Abubakar, disclosed during an empowerment programme in the state that the aim of the programme was to promote education of girls.

She said women were in need of empowerment to be self-reliant and able to assist their husbands and children.

Some of the women are trained tailors, but they don’t have sewing machines; some of them can operate at home by using grinding machine to make money, but because of lack of assistance, they were not able to do so, she added.

According to her, the foundation has supplied one truck of maize floor fortified with vitamin A, some of which had been distributed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), orphanages, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), women in prison and girls’ schools across the state.

The deputy director, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mrs. Lamis Benjamen, commended the foundation for touching lives through its humanitarian services.
