Less than five days to the rescheduled general elections, the national youth leader of the Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) one of the political parties in alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the aegis of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) yesterday threatened to withdraw their support for PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming presidential election.
The party said their members went through the postponed elections with ‘unpleasant and bitter experience’ as the promise to mobilize it for the election was never fulfilled as agreed, saying that it is an indication that the PDP is unserious about winning the presidential election.
Speaking on behalf of the MAJA, the national youth leader of the party, Comrade Julius Idahosa, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City, Edo State also described the postponement as a “ rude shock.”

Idahosa said the CUPP is under immense pressure to back the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari and may dump Atiku, owing to the way and manner they were treated by the PDP and vowed not be ‘fooled’ into an unholy alliance.
He said, “Most of all the political parties under CUPP left for the polls with a bitter sweet taste in their mouths. The seemingly I don’t care attitude of the PDP suggests two things: either the PDP has not learnt anything from the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections or the national chairmen of coalition parties are being economical with the truth.
“My fear was and still is, most party faithful would have voted for candidates of their parties which would have impacted negatively on the outcome of the elections for the big brother PDP.
“Let me state in clear terms that a very sizeable number of both national officers and state chairmen are in high level consultations to wait until Wednesday before taking a stand, possibly to align with the ruling party which has been extending its hand of fellowship ever since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding took place knowing fully well that you don’t mobilise people with nothing”.
The youth leader also expressed fear that the postponed general elections might result to huge voter apathy.
