‘ENIC League promotes friendship, tennis development’

Friendship and development of tennis has been identified as the driving force behind the success of the East of the Niger Inter-Club (ENIC) Tennis League.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Enic League at the weekend, the President of Calabar Sports Club, Mr. Assam Assam said aside the high quality of the game during its 19th edition, it was an opportunity for members of the various private membership recreational clubs across the East of the Niger to check their health status.

“The East of the Niger Inter-Club (ENIC) Tennis League has offered participating regions and clubs a platform to bond in friendship which is only peculiar to the game of tennis,” he said.

“The league has built solid relationships between the two regions of South East and South South over the years.”

At the end of the competition, Orlu Recreation Club became champions by winning three of the five games, including two singles, two doubles and one veteran game.

The tournament, which kicked-off with four teams, Standard Tennis Development Club (STDC) Owerri, Orlu Recreation Club, Onitsha Sports Club and Calabar Sports Club, saw STDC Owerri and Orlu Recreational Club qualifying for the finals.

Assam Assam, who is the president of Calabar Sports Club, maintained that as hosts, they were happy with the success of the event and expressed appreciation to the sponsors of the tournament; Cutix Plc, Eko Bank Plc, Tetralog Nigeria Limited and Calabar Sports Club 1889.
