The crash happened barely 24 hours after eight people were killed in a fatal crash on Saturday night at Goltukurwa village, Dass-Bauchi Road.

Similarly, on Sunday, multiple crashes claimed the lives of 20 people at Bambal village along the Kano-Jama’are highway and Duhuwar Kura village, along the Azare-Zaki Road. Sixteen of the victims were burnt beyond recognition.

Confirming the latest crash, the sector commander said it took personnel of the FRSC 39 minutes to arrive at the scene for a rescue operation.

Abdullahi noted that the crash involved a commercial Volkswagen Sharon bus belonging to the National Union of Road Transport Workers and driven by one Isa Mohammed, and a trailer.

He said, “The unfortunate incident occurred last night at 10pm at Zalanga village along the Bauchi-Darazo Road. The crash involved two vehicles. It was caused by an obstruction on the road by the trailer; the bus rammed into it.
When we were called, our men rushed there within 39 minutes and rushed the victims to the Darazo General Hospital for treatment and confirmation.

“It was at the hospital that a medical doctor confirmed five people dead. Five others sustained varying degrees of injury.”
