G23 PPA To Adopt Consensus Presidential Candidate

The G23 Political Parties Alliance (PPA), Kaduna State chapter has revealed it is still consulting on a choice for the most qualified presidential candidate to adopt and support for the February poll.

The PPA is made up of all registered political parties in Kaduna State.

The Publicity Secretary of the group, Salihu Shuaibu Dawaki stated this in a statement signed by him and made available to newsmen in Kaduna at the weekend.

“After our emergency meeting in Kaduna at the weekend, we resolved to look into the manifestoes of the contending political parties who have Presidential candidates in the upcoming elections and adopt the most qualified one among them.

“The emergency meeting involved all the stakeholders of the PPA and agreed on the issues been discussed at the meeting on the methods of adoption of a presidential candidate”, Dawaki stated.

The statement further explained that a three man committee has been set up with the mandate to make a better choice amongst the strong contenders in the interest of the country and Nigerians.

He added, “In furtherance of this objective, therefore, the committee has been detailed on the criteria to be used for the adoption.

“We expected that between now and Wednesday, being January 23, 2019, the committee must have resolved on the presidential candidate to be adopted.

“We are not only going to adopt the presidential candidate, but also the gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna State and other candidates seeking elective positions on the same platform.

“Part of criteria to be used will include national acceptability of a candidate and his or her party, strength of the structure of the candidate and the party across the country”, the statement contained.
