A fan of Iceland has predicted that the Super Eagles may have a one way traffic against his country in Friday’s second Group D match in Volgograd.
Iceland pulled a 1-1 draw against Argentina in their first group match last Saturday on a day the Super Eagles was beaten 2-0 by Croatia. The one point already secured by Iceland has sent dangerous signal to Nigerian fans ahead of Friday’s game.

But one of the Iceland supporters, Siguidur Kristjansson, who is in Moscow, told The Guardian yesterday that the harsh weather condition in Volgograd would play a damaging role against his fellow countrymen.
“To be sincere, I don’t see my country beating Nigeria in Volgograd on Friday. The weather forecast suggests that the temperature degrees Celsius in Volgograd on Friday will be 37-38 degrees. That will favour Nigeria than my country. In Iceland, the maximum temperature is 20 degrees Celsius and it happens once in a year, precisely on December 15.
“If Nigeria should lose the match, then the players and their handlers should be blamed. I don’t see our players surviving the entire 90 minutes under such terrible weather condition because they will get tired less than 20 minutes.
“Another bad news coming from Volgograd is that the town is infested with mosquitoes. That will not be good for our players. As a fan, I am going to the market now to buy an outfit that will cover the whole of my body. I don’t know how the players will cope. But that is not my job,” Kristjansson stated.
