The Executive Chairman of Apapa Local Government Council Area, Hon Owolabi Elijah Adele, has commenced activities to mark his 550 Days in office with a 5KM Health Walk and Free Medical Checkups in all the 5 wards of the Local Government yesterday, February 4th, 2019.
The Health Walk is to sensitize indigenes and residents of Apapa on the benefits of physical exercise. The 5km Health Walk which is approximately 5,000 steps is expected to have helped in reducing body fats and overall weight. It is believed that maintaining a regular pace of walking helps to improve musclar strength and endurance and also build body stamina for the individual.
The Chairman and his team as well as Council Management, top politicians, staff and general public walked from the Council Secretariat on 37, Burma Road, Apapa and berthed at AstroTurf recreation Center, Caulcrick Road. At the Recreation Centre, free Health check up was carried out on every member of Ward D. The Health Mission which is expected to last for 6 days will cover all the 5 Wards in the Local Government Area. The Medical Check up is expected to diagnose patients with Diabetes, HIV/AIDS, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Hepatitis, Malaria, Typhoid as well as Eye test with free eyes glasses. Drugs will be administered on mild .complications where necessary amongst others. The medical team will be at Oluwole waterside which is Ward A today.
