As against what happened in Enugu when President Muhammadu Buhari visited the state recently for his re-election campaign, academic activities were paralyzed in public schools in Enugu as part of efforts to give a rousing welcome to the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP}, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was in the state last weekend.
Motorists suffered a great loss as preparations to receive Atiku gets underway. As at the time of filing this report, most routes, especially those along Ogui Road were blocked forcing motorists and their passengers to drive round Enugu in search of alternative routes to their destinations.

Most commercial drivers resorted to parking their vehicles at home as they could not afford the fuel to drive round Enugu to drop their passengers. A student of one of the public secondary who was seen going home around 10am told our reporter that they were asked to go home because of Atiku’s visit to Enugu for campaign.
As at the time of filing this report, Atiku was yet to arrive, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu venue of his campaign but the blocked routes remained closed because of the visit, a development that has inflicted pains on the citizens.
“I’m a student in one of the secondary schools in Enugu. I was surprised when I got to school and was directed by our teacher to go home because of the coming of Atiku but when a whole president came to Enugu for campaign, nobody asked us to go.
A trader confided in our correspondent that all the markets have been directed to close down to enable traders attend the Atiku Campaign but most traders are kicking against it on the ground that all the traders are not PDP members.
As at the time of filing this report, most supporters who gathered at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium were running out of patience because they have been under the sun for a long time.
