NADECO Bishop’ Adebiyi Dies At 78

The Rt Rev Peter Adebiyi, popularly known as ‘NADECO Bishop’ for his opposition to military rule in the 80s and 90s, is dead.

He died on Thursday around 10 pm after a prolonged sickness at 78.

His former spokesman, Mr. Tunji Oguntuase, and his son Adeboye Adebiyi, confirmed his death.

A statement by Adeboye Adebiyi informed that the cleric retired from the Lagos West Diocese of the Anglican Communion in 2013 at 70.

Born on April 27, 1943, at Osi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Adebiyi was ordained a deacon in1970 and m a priest in 1971.

He first served as a priest at the Holy Trinity Church of the Anglican Communion, Ilawe Ekiti.
