As part of efforts to ensure that all eligible players feature for the national team, the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has revealed that it has opened an online portal for players in the country to register their details, which would make them earn possible invitation to the national team.

Speaking with The Guardian at the weekend, NRFF General Manager, Jamie Goode said the move was necessary to give Nigerian players, especially the home-base stars, the chance to represent the country in international engagements without hitches.

Jamie added that NRFF was targeting more players from the grassroots to help develop the standard of rugby in Nigeria, adding that the current board would strive to reposition the national team without sidelining any player based anywhere in the country.

Goode said that the foreign -based “The online portal is www. nrff. com. NRFF is making players go through this process to avoid shortchanging any Nigerian player wishing to play for the national team.

“They would register their details and give the board all the information needed to make them good enough to earn invitation.

Invitation to the team would no more be at random. Only the best would be picked for invitation,” he said.

He added that players would be selected in July, August, September and October, disclosing that application would also make the board have a full data of foreign-based Nigerian rugby players.

“The body is also working hard to reposition the female team and the cadet teams. Our goal is to grow the sport at all levels.

The Black Stallions would be playing Niger Republic in an international friendly on August 11,” he added.
