President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abdulwaheed Odusile, has voided the alleged impeachment of the Omoni Ayo-Tamuno-led executive of the Union in Rivers State.
Some members of the Union had on Tuesday night announced in the media the sack of the entire executives of the Union and appointed a three-man caretaker committee led by Azubuike Okeh, of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to take over the affairs of the Union.
But, Odusile, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by the Zonal Secretary of NUJ, Zone F, Opaka Dokubo, urged the public to discountenance the purported impeachment of the executives.
He promised that the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Union, taking place in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Thursday, December 14, 2017, will adequately deliberate on the development.
The NUJ President, therefore directed all parties in the budding crisis in the Rivers State Council of the Union to exercise restraint and follow laid down procedures in addressing their differences
