Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has disclosed that his administration would continue to reward hardworking, loyal and commitment Corps members posted to the state.
Akeredolu made the disclosure at the closing ceremony of the Orientation Course for the 2017 Batch ‘B’ stream one Corps members deployed to the state .
The governor said, his administration realises the importance of youths in the socio-economic and political prosperity of the nation due to the crucial and unquantifiable roles they playing the attainment and sustenance of peace and unity.
Akeredolu who was represented by the Commissioner for Sport and Youth development, Hon. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, said that the administration is poised to accord priority to youth matters through job creation, empowerment and other meaningful ventures.
According to him, ” We will look at the issue of corps welfare critically and see how we can provide some packages for you because we know that the Corps members are playing a complementary role in all sectors where they are deployed .
“It is the duty of any government to create the enabling environment and supporting the policies that will give room for the youth to thrive in their different endeavors.
“It is also the responsibility of the youth to understand moral values and ethical decision making and participation in public efforts thereby contributing positively to the society “.

Akeredolu, however, urged the Corps members to unleash their potentials so as to be able to be a force to be reckoned with in no distance future.
“We are in era where youth are seeking for a better life at all cost, not considering the risk involved. There is no harm in seeking for a better future, but it should be done with all sense of decency. Shun all social vices like kidnapping, robbery, cultism, violence and illegal migration which have led many vibrant youths to the path of destruction. ”
Meanwhile, some corps members have called on the state government to assist the National Youth Service Corps NYSC IN building more hostels facilities at the Ikare Akoko orientation camp to accommodate the population of Corps members in the camp.
Some Corps members who spoke with LEADERSHIP expressed worries over the bad condition of some hostels ,describing their experience as not palatable.
They however called on the state government to urgently do more to construct more blocks at the orientation camp to address the highly congested hostels facilities in the camp.
The NYSC coordinator in ondo state, Mrs Grace Akpabio who commended the state government for improving the current hostels, said there was need to build four more blocks that would accommodate 400 Corps members.
Mrs Akpabio explained that efforts were in progress to ensure that the next batch of Corps members would not have similar experience as those one who just concluded their orientation program at the camp.
