Police Arrest Commissioner, Kano ALGON Chairman

The Police in Kano State  yesterday, arrested commissioner for Local Government, Kano State, Murtala Sule Garo,  and the chairman, Nassarawa local government, Lamin Sani for alleged result sheet snatching.

The command spokesman DSP Haruna Abdullahi said the commissioner and the chairman were arrested at Nassarawa local government area Collation Centre for 2019 Gubernatorial and State Assembly Election, while attempting to snatch results sheets.

The PPRO said the two were alleged to have penetrated the collation centre and attempted to destroy election result sheets.

The police added that already investigation into this ugly incident has commenced and the command is assuring members of the public that whoever is involved will be investigated and chargd to court.

He emphasised that members of the public are enjoined to remain calm as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ready to announce the election results.

He observed that some political gladiators in the state commenced celebration of election victory before official announcement of result by INEC, and warned that the police would not take it lightly with any one found wanting.

“The command is putting it clear to all and sundry that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should be allowed to finish collating the results and declare authentic winners before any celebrations,” he warned.

DSP Haruna said this is to maintain peace and harmony and avoid breach of peace.

“Any person or persons that engage in such celebrations leading to breach of peace will be arrested and prosecuted as provided by the law,” he added.
